Ibani United Retains Dominance of Amanyanabo Football Tournament, Snatches Late 1-0 Victory from Young Talents

Defending champions of the Amanyanabo Football Tournament, Ibani United FC snatched a 1-0 victory from relentless opponents, Young Talents FC to assert their dominance in the annual competition.

A defensive error in Young Talents’ 18-yard area earned the champions a penalty kick which top scorer, Benedict Pepple converted into a goal.

The team, which again retained their champions status in the just concluded 2025 edition of the Tournament, held in Bonny, Rivers State, had to fight through a tough play with Young Talents.

Benedict Pepple, who scored the winning goal against Young Talents at the 90th minute, became the Man of Match and also Best Player of the Tournament.

The Amanyanabo Football Tournament wrapped off with award of prizes and presentation of the tournament trophy to the winners, Ibani United, who have again consolidated their retention of the title.

In attendance were distinguished guests such as the grand patron of the tournament and Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom; His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Con, JP, DSSRS, Perekule XI, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bonny LGA; Abinye Pepple, and Ibinyefagha Alabere, respectively, and Secretary to Bonny Local Government Tamunotonye Jumbo.

Others were the General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG); Nnamdi Anowi, Chairman/CEO of Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL), High Chief Peter Esievo, former Super Eagles players, Chief Executive Officer of Graftons Entertainment, Tonye Ibiama, among others.
