Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has opened up about how the death of his firstborn son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in 2022 changed his life.
In an emotional interview with NBC, Davido said the loss left a deep mark on him and his family.

“It changed my life,” he said, adding that many fans have praised his resilience after the tragedy.
“My wife and I were talking the other day and I told her, ‘I’m proud of us,’” he revealed.
“We now have twins, they’re grown, shouting everywhere, but for us to go through that and be able to bounce back in a major way is something.”
Ifeanyi was born in Atlanta on October 20, 2019, but drowned in the family’s swimming pool at their Banana Island home in Lagos around 6pm on October 31, 2022, sparking grief across the country.
The Lagos State Police confirmed his death and questioned eight members of the household staff.
In October 2023, a year after the tragedy, Davido and his wife, Chioma, welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, via cesarean section in the United States.
During their Miami white wedding in August 2025, the couple honoured Ifeanyi in touching ways.
Davido wore custom cufflinks with his son’s image, while Chioma carried a wedding bouquet adorned with his picture.
