Navy, Army, Other Security Agencies Hold Route March in Bonny, Boost Physical Fitness

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (NNFOB) Bonny, 146 Battalion Nigerian Army, alongside security agencies in Bonny Island, Rivers State held a Route March on Saturday, 21 June 2025 aimed at boosting physical fitness for their personnel as well as confidence building for residents of the Island.

Commanding Officer NNFOB, alongside his counterparts from sister service, 146 Battalion Nigerian Army, and heads of various security agencies in the LGA participated in the Route March.

The route march took off from the FOB Bonny marched in a circuit through Abalamabie Road, Akiama Road to Willbros Junction and ended back at the Base.

Amongst the Naval and Army personnel were personnel from the Nigeria Police Force Bonny and Finima Divisions, Federal Road Safety Corps Bonny Unit Command, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Bonny Area Command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Bonny Division, Nigeria Customs Service Bonny and corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), amongst others.

Addressing personnel after the march and following aerobics session at the Base, the Commanding Officer NNFOB Bonny appreciated all for their involvement, pointing out that the day’s activities were beneficial to the personnel.

He stated that physical activities like the route march and aerobics help keep the personnel physically fit and agile for their daily tasks. He further outlines how it positively impacts their mental health and boosts self-confidence.

Accordingly, he stressed that the involvement of security agencies in joint exercises such as route marches are aimed at boosting inter-agency cooperation, urging them to maximise such opportunities whenever they present themselves as the benefits cannot be overemphasized.  

Kristina Reports reliably learnt that the exercise is a nation-wide programme at the behest of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
