Nigerian Army Arrest 71 Suspected Oil Thieves as GOC Hails Informants

The Nigerian Army has commended informants for their support in giving actionable information that has helped significantly in the fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Eric Emekah have this commendation on Monday, August 11, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He gave this commendation as troops of the 6 division Nigerian Army recorded yet another milestone in the crackdown against economic saboteurs.
The soldiers in the latest operations have arrested 71 suspected oil thieves, destroyed 14 illegal refining sites and recovered 33,00O litres of stolen products across the oil rich region.






According to the Public Relations Officer of the 6 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, the operations, which took place between Sunday, July 27 and Sunday, August 10, 2025, were carried out In Rivers, Bayelsa and other areas in the Niger Delta.
Major General Emekah, however, renewed his warnings to criminals to turn a new, stressing that anyone caught stealing the nation’s common wealth will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
