A total of 36 houses have so far been handed over to indigent families in Akwa Ibom state under the ARISE Shelter Agenda of Pastor Umo Eno.

The houses mostly for widows come under the name ARISE Compassionate Homes and a total of 400 are to be built across the 368 political wards before 2027.

The first phase of the ARISE Compassionate Home covers the 31 Local Government Areas.

Three of such homes in Etinan Federal Constituency comprising Etinan, Nsit Ibom, and Nsit Ubuim Local Government Areas were commissioned on Friday 5th July 2024 by the governor represented by the commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.

At Afia Nsit in Nsit Ibom local government, the governor thanked the brother of the beneficiary for donating a plot of land upon which the compassionate home was built.

The homes delivered to beneficiaries are fully furnished with modern household gadgets. The beneficiaries also smile home with a five hundred thousand naira business grant from the governor.

In a project overview, Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, highlighted the unique features of the homes to include a solar borehole, solar power electricity, external kitchen, and is built to stand the test of time.
He assured the people of the Governor’s commitment to reach the hitherto unreached and connect the dots across communities in the state.

The beneficiaries Affiong David of Ikot Akpabio, Etinan Local Government Area, Bassey-Anwan Daniel, in Afia Nsit Village, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, and Nkereuwem Umoren from Ikot Ekpene Udo village in Nsit Ubuim Local Government Area thanked the governor for building a befitting home in their lifetime. They prayed for long life and God’s divine protection upon the governor who remembered widows to provide them a decent shelter.
